The rise and fall of the post covid Dallas Mavericks will go down in the history books and should be studied for science. I have no idea what that shit sandwich group of players you trotted out last night was. but looking, 13.5 months ago to the Christmas game 2024 vs MN when Luka got hurt, the mavs starting 5 was Lively/PJW/Kyrie/Klay/Luka. a decent bench of Marshall/Grimes/Gafford & Dinwiddie. Theoretically you'll always have Luka or Kyrie on the court at all times. thats literally probably a top 5 starting group in the league. Obviously the calf injury derailed the season at the point...but I didnt think it would ever derail the franchise for possibly 5+ years. Gafford/Khris Middleton/PJ Washington/Naji Marshall/Tyus Jones is next level bad. This upcoming draft lottery is so critical for your future. Maybe you can unload Kyrie before the draft and acquire some more picks/younger running mates. This team has too many unc's around Flagg and your hopeful near top draft pick. Clearly Middleton will be gone, so youll have some space. but 39 & 42M a year for 35 year old Kyrie isn't ideal either. I dont know man, so many former Wizards on one team is just strange knowing where you were at in the calendar year of 2025. good luck, kudos to those who are sticking it out, but no way would I have kept my fan duel subscription at $20/mo to watch that. I know this is all stating the obvious and rubbing it in..but man...brutal.
